Brick City Customs opened in 2004 as the result of a pact between friends. After working in other fields for several years, Chris Azdell attended the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, AZ in 2000. Rich Nowlin was designing and building golf courses at the time and was also ready for a change of scenery, so he and Chris made a pact to someday open a motorcycle shop of their own, specializing in American-made V-twins.
Chris Azdell and Rich Nowlin attended Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and took jobs at a Harley dealership, Chris as a service manager and Rich as an expert-level technician. Although they came from humble backgrounds, they wanted to spend their 12-hour workdays doing something they loved. So, in 2004, they parted ways with the dealership and came together to open Brick City Customs, and in 2008, they hired head technician Don Nelson.
Brick City Customs is a full-service motorcycle shop providing repairs and custom work on Harleys and other American-made bikes. With a wide range of parts and services available at the facility, Brick City takes care of anything your motorcycle needs, from maintenance to repairs to complete customization.
What sets Brick City apart from anywhere else you can take your bike is that it’s remained a “mom ‘n pop shop” since the beginning, and we are committed to honesty in our work. Chris and Rich are passionate about their work, having had top-notch instruction per the one and only Harley Davidson school, and they’ve recruited a highly experienced team. Our expertly trained techs treat your bike as their own, taking time to ensure safety and great mechanical and visual condition.
This compliment is a favorite of ours to share, given by one of our loyal customers on a poker run when asked by another rider why he trusts us with his bike:
We’re lucky to have worked with dozens of great customers, from former University of Missouri football coach Gary Pinkel to the presidents of two Hell’s Angels chapters. We’re proud that our clientele come from all walks of life.
In 2007, Brick City was awarded Audrain County Small Business of the Year in the category of businesses with fewer than 50 employees. The same year, we were also one of 10 recognized for excellence in small business in Missouri, receiving a State Senate Resolution. We had the honor of displaying the first motorcycle to come out of Brick City in the Missouri State Capitol rotunda.
